چکیده
The tomato red spider mite, Tetranychus evansi, is an invasive pest reported on solanaceous crops in Benin around 2008, causing heavy economic damage. control of this mite by farmers mainly done through intensive applications chemical pesticides that are not always effective. In the present study, we evaluated a laboratory, at IITA-Benin, effects two botanical insecticides: Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL) and Neem oil. This together with Acarius 18 EC, acaricide generally used growers eggs adult females T. evansi. half recommended dose (0.5 l/ha), (1 double (2 l/ha) oil as well solutions 1%, 2 %, 3%, 4% 5% CNSL were tested. Mean egg hatching rates varied significantly among treatments, ranging from 0.00 ± 0.00% (Neem CNSL) (respectively 4%) to 100% (Control). Mortality female evansi also differed treatments (P < 0.0001), 22.00 4.20% 100%. highest mortality recorded any doses 4%, whereas lowest rate was treatment. Fecundity pesticide-treated proportion hatched revealed significant differences all products 0.0001). It appears study even very effective suppressing populations should, therefore, be subject further studies test their compatibility natural enemies, determine strategies for efficient greenhouse under field conditions.

Alternative control of Tetranychus evansi Baker & Pritchard (Acari: Tetranychidae) on tomato plants grown in greenhouses.
Tetranychus evansi Baker & Pritchard is an important pest of solanaceous plants, including tomatoes. This mite is characterized by a high reproductive rate, which leads to high population growth in a short period of time causing important economic damage. Control of T. evansi is mainly through synthetic acaricides. In searching for environmentally friendly control measures, we evaluated the eff...
متن کاملTest of Colonisation Scenarios Reveals Complex Invasion History of the Red Tomato Spider Mite Tetranychus evansi
The spider mite Tetranychus evansi is an emerging pest of solanaceous crops worldwide. Like many other emerging pests, its small size, confusing taxonomy, complex history of associations with humans, and propensity to start new populations from small inocula, make the study of its invasion biology difficult. Here, we use recent developments in Approximate Bayesian Computation (ABC) and variatio...

The spider mite Tetranychus evansi Baker & Pritchard can cause severe damage to tomato crops. The predatory mite Phytoseiulus longipes Evans was recently reported in association with T. evansi in Uruguaiana, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of P. longipes on the population of T. evansi on tomatoes under screenhouse condition. The st...

The experiment was conducted to study the effectiveness of four commonly used chemicals viz., deltamethrin, cypermethrin, malathion and sulphur against two-spotted spider mite (TSSM), Tetranychus urticae Koch on potted bean plants and on excised leaf discs. Mite population remained significantly lower in all treated plots except malathion treatment. The population of T. urticae differed signifi...
